Mitiga Recognised as One of the Ten Most Disruptive Companies in Catalonia

 Barcelona (Spain), July 20, 2023 – Mitiga Solutions, a climate tech company that applies science, AI, and high-performance computing to strengthen resilience against climate-related hazards; has been awarded 'Catalonia Exponential Leaders' by ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s agency for business competitiveness, alongside 10 other exceptional companies and startups. The distinction acknowledges leaders in the realm of disruptive innovation, recognising their profound impact on society, exponential growth potential, and incorporation of cutting-edge technologies such as AI, 3D printing, and advanced biotechnology.

The announcement took place during the Exponential Day on Thursday, July 20th, an event that brought together over 600 attendees and delved into the analysis of the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence.

Albert Castellanos i Maduell, Secretary of Business and Competitiveness and CEO of ACCIÓ, unveiled the distinguished companies during this annual event's fifth edition, hosted at the AXA Auditorium in Barcelona.

The awarded startups and established companies specialise in sectors like health and life sciences, mobility, energy, and sustainable chemistry. Their business models embody innovation and embrace disruptive technologies, such as AI, big data management, 3D printing, and advanced biotechnology.

The recognition also highlights their ability to generate a positive impact on society beyond their commercial endeavours, their distinctive value proposition, corporate culture, and potential for exponential growth.

 Exponential Day #5. AI: evolution, disruption, or revolution?

The fifth edition of ACCIÓ's Exponential Day focused this year on artificial intelligence, with various sessions organised to analyse the advantages and challenges posed by this technology for businesses and society.

Additionally, the event provided a networking space for attending companies and showcased real-life examples of Catalan generative AI applications through live demonstrations.

The event featured a keynote speech by Chema Alonso, Chief Digital Officer at Telefónica, who analysed the impact of artificial intelligence and the disruption it is already causing today, and will represent in the future. John Elkington, a renowned international expert in corporate responsibility and sustainability, founder of Volans, and advisor to multinational companies in the field of new technologies and sustainability, also participated, focusing on the connection between AI and challenges like climate change.
