MedEWSa enhances impactbased forecasting and early warning systems across the European–Mediterranean–African region, addressing the rising frequency and severity of climatedriven natural hazards. The project develops an integrated multihazard framework that leverages AIenabled analytics, highresolution modelling and realtime decisionsupport tools to strengthen the rapid deployment of first responders and improve community preparedness.
Through a network of four twins—eight pilot areas with histories of extreme events—MedEWSa tests scalable solutions for floods, heatwaves, droughts, wildfires, coastal hazards, landslides and cascading risks. Its central role in the UN Early Warnings for All (EW4All) initiative helps accelerate the adoption of interoperable, peoplecentred earlywarning capabilities across vulnerable regions.
This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101121192.
