KOIOS aims to advance nextgeneration AI techniques for defence applications, focusing on trustworthiness, robustness, frugality, and resilience. The projectdevelops AI models that can rapidly adapt to dynamic and datascarceenvironments while remaining explainable, humancontrolled, and resistant to adversarial manipulation.
To achieve this, KOIOS builds an integrated framework that combines simulation environments, highperformance computing, metrics for frugality and robustness, and realworld experiments designed to stresstest AI in operational defence contexts. Use cases span key military decisionmaking domains such as Situation Awareness and Intelligence, Operations Command and Control, and Mission Equipment, including applications for threat detection, rareevent identification, object recognition, and autonomous systems.
