CMIP6 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project) is the sixth phase of an international climate modelling effort that brings together simulations from more than 50 modelling centres. It provides standardised climate projections used by researchers, governments, and platforms like EarthScan.
When EarthScan shows flood or heat risk for a site in 2050, the data is based on CMIP6 model outputs, using peer-reviewed simulations under different emissions pathways.
CMIP6 provides the scientific foundation for many global climate scenarios. It ensures consistency and comparability across tools and disclosures including CSRD, TCFD, and ISSB-aligned reporting.
